41 MacArthur Drive ~ Millbury

In 2009, the Town of Millbury donated a land parcel to Habitat for Humanity—MetroWest/Greater Worcester to construct an affordable housing unit at 41 MacArthur Drive.  The land was deeded to Habitat by the Millbury Housing Partnership in keeping with the town’s long-term commitment to produce housing for low- to moderate-income residents.

Construction on this single family home began in late October 2009. The official Groundbreaking Ceremony for the project took place on November 1st with remarks from Brian Stowell—Millbury Town Selectman, Laurie Conners—Millbury Town Planner, Mike Moore—Massachusetts State Senator, June Culross—Habitat Homeowner, and a blessing by Pastor Davis of the Millbury Federated Church.

Funding and support for this project has come from local businesses and corporations including FIBA, Millbury Savings Bank, Middlesex Savings Bank, Goretti’s Supermarket, Aquarion Water Company, Dirty Girl Disposal, Wheelabrator Millbury, as well as local congregations and individuals. 

Three local committees, Construction, Community Outreach and Fundraising, have been formed by volunteers in Millbury and the surrounding areas.  These committees meet regularly and work in coordination with the HFH-MW/GW affiliate office to raise funds and support an increasing number of volunteers to complete this project and provide a simple, decent home for a deserving family!

PARKING

As parking at the site is limited, carpooling is strongly encouraged.  You may park on MacArthur Drive, but please be mindful not to block neighbors’ driveways or mailboxes.

From Points West, via the Mass Pike Eastbound

Take exit #10A/Worcester (US-20)/Providence (Route-146) (toll applies).  Turn left on Route 20 Conn, toward US-20/Auburn/Westborough.  Turn right on Southwest Cutoff (US-20).  After approximately 1½ miles, turn right on Massasoit Rd., which becomes Millbury Ave.  Turn left onto Wheelock Ave, just before Dorothy Pond.  Turn right on MacArthur Dr., just in front of the Wheelock Inn.  41 MacArthur Drive will be on your left.

From Points East, via the Mass Pike Westbound

Take exit #11/Millbury/Worcester (toll applies) via left ramp.  Turn left on Grafton St. (Route-122).  Turn left on Wheelock Ave and continue for 1 mile.  Turn left on MacArthur Dr., just past the Wheelock Inn.  41 MacArthur Drive will be on your left.

From Worcester

Take Grafton St./Route 122 E.  After 1 mile, bear right on Massasoit Rd, which becomes Millbury Ave.  After 3 miles, turn left on Wheelock Ave., just before Dorothy Pond.  Turn right on MacArthur Dr., just in front of the Wheelock Inn.  41 MacArthur Drive will be on your left.

From Points North, via 190 Southbound

Take ramp onto I-290 W toward Auburn.  Take exit #14/Barre/Uxbridge onto Water St. (Route-122 E) toward Posner Square/Grafton.  Turn right on Grafton St. (Route-122).  After 1 mile, bear right on Massasoit Rd., which becomes Millbury Ave.  After 3 miles, turn left on Wheelock Ave., just before Dorothy Pond.  Turn right on MacArthur Dr., just in front of the Wheelock Inn.  41 MacArthur Drive will be on your left.

From Points South, via 146/Worcester-Providence Turnpike Northbound

Take exit #8/W. Main St./Millbury.

Turn right on Elm St. toward W. Main St./Millbury (Route-122A.).  After ½ mile, turn left on Canal St. (Route-122A). then take an immediate right on Howe Ave., which will become Millbury Ave.   After 1½ miles, 1kmturn right on Wheelock Ave., just after Dorothy Pond.  Turn right on MacArthur Dr., just in front of the Wheelock Inn.  41 MacArthur Drive will be on your left.
